Add-on domain

An add-on domain is a separate domain that is being hosted on your primaire domain while it looks like it is being hosted on a separate account. For example, if your primaire domain is idesthost.com and you add the add-on domain newdomain.com in your cPanel then any visitor that visit newdomain.com will see this domain in their address bar. Furthermore the content or files for this web site are coming from a specific folder within your account. In sort, with add-on domain you can host multiple web sites with different content.

Parked domain

A parked domain will be used if the content of the website equals your main or primary web site. This feature is widely being used for different domain extensions. For example website.com, website.eu and website.org can all be parked at your account and those domains will be re-directed to your primary domain.

Sub-domain

A sub-domain is frequently used to give a department a unique name. For example, your sales department can be at sales.yourdomain.com. That is, a sub-domain is constructed as subdomain.primaydomain.com.

FTP accounts

FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol" which is a protocol that standarises a number of actions between computers where the operating system can differ. This concept makes use of a server-clients model. The client connects to the server with a username and a password. This username and password is called a FTP account. For Microsoft there are some populair programs, namely FileZilla or CuteFTP.
